Learn how to fit our Torrent Cistern in just a few simple to follow steps

Video Transcript

I’m Sam from Roper Rhodes and join me today as I fit one of our Torrent Cisterns in 10 easy steps.

I’ll be talking you through everything, from attaching the wall bracket, all the way through to adjusting the water level.

Right first things first, step 1, attach the bracket.

Before you start, it’s important to check that the wall fixings are suitable for the surface the cistern is being fixed to. Always check there is no concealed cables or pipework where you’re looking to drill. Then mark your fixing points, grab your drill, insert the wall fixings, then secure the bracket in place. The fixing bracket has two prongs, cut them both to fit the worktop.

Step 2, mount the cistern onto the wall bracket.

Remove your cistern cover and gently slide the cistern onto the bracket. Finish by securing with the screw provided.

Step 3, cut the flush pipe to size and attach to the cistern.

Be sure to cut the 50mm end of the flush pipe squarely, to achieve the correct height to suit the pan and always make sure the tapered washer leads into the valve. Do not tighten the bottom nut when attaching, this has been factory set. If water escape is experienced whilst testing, check the pipe is fully inserted and the tapered washer is correctly fitted. We also recommend the flush bend be properly braced against the wall. This will ensure there’s no tension on the connections to the tank which could cause fittings to leak.

Step 4, connect the water supply to the cistern.

When doing this, always use an approved double check valve to fluid category 3 in addition to an accessible service valve. Also, be sure to check the inlet valve is fully tightened to the base of the tank. In this demonstration we’re not connecting to the main water supply but this is where you would attach your valve.

Step 5, install the push button.

Feed your tubes through the cistern cover and reattach. Then grab your drill and create a 63mm circle opening in the front of your unit panel. Feed your button through and attach to the tubes.

Step 6, fix the toilet.

Take care on this step to support the flush pipe when locating the toilet onto it so the flush connection doesn’t get damaged.

Step 7, adjust and check the flush volume.

By adjusting the flush valve the flushing volume can be altered until you find the perfect flush. The tank is factory set to flush at 6 and 3 litres but can be adjusted if needs be.

Step 8, adjust the water level.

By adjusting the fill valve the water level can be increased or decreased until you find the perfect amount.

Step 9, do your final checks and clean up.

Make sure the cistern cover is correctly clipped onto the tank to prevent any splash escaping down the tank. It’s always best practice to ensure that the connections are watertight before sealing into the furniture, a paper towel is best to check for any slight moisture

Step 10, attach your front furniture panel back onto the unit and you’re done.
