Video Transcript

I’m Elle from Roper Rhodes Trade Solutions and today I’ll be installing one of our Joy Push Button Dual Function Showers, in just 14 easy to follow steps.

As well as showing how to correctly fit the shower, I’ll also cover some trade tips and areas to lookout for to ensure the shower is installed with fit and forget in mind.

Before beginning the install, it’s important to familiarise yourself with how our Push Button Showers work.

Where these showers differ from our regular Bar Valve units is in the innovative On / Off Push Button technology located on the right-hand side of the dual valve.

In the Off’ position, the centre push button will be depressed and flush with the control handle. To turn the valve on, push the button into the handle until it clicks and protrudes from the end of the handle.

This technology provides our easiest showering experience yet with set and forget temperature and flow control. This also makes showering more comfortable and convenient for those with limited mobility.

Right, Step 1 is to make sure you have the correct tools to successfully complete the install.

We recommend using the following…

A 30mm spanner

And safety Glasses for use when drilling holes. In this demonstration the holes have been pre-drilled so the shower is ready to fit.

One thing to note is that you always need to check there are no concealed electrical cables or pipework where you’re looking to drill.

Now step 2, check the operating conditions of use to ensure the shower is suitable for the space it’s being fitted.

Our Joy Push Button Shower is compatible with…

Gravity fed Hot & Cold and Gravity fed Hot & Mains Cold of equal pressures. Unvented systems, Gas combination boilers and Pumped Systems.

It’s important to note that Pumps should only be used on gravity fed systems. Always check with the pump manufacturer for which type of pump the system you’re fitting requires.

Step 3, Check for debris.

Most problems associated with the operation of thermostatic shower valves are caused by debris in the new pipe work getting into the thermostat. These problems are easily avoided by thoroughly flushing the pipe work, prior to fitting the shower valve.

By flushing the pipework, you will also clear the system of any unwanted air.

Step 4, Install the hot and cold inlet pipework.

In this demonstration, we’ve pre-prepared our pipework ready to fit the shower.

However, when preparing the pipes yourself, always ensure the pipe centres are 150mm apart and protrude at least 35mm from the finished wall surface.

Step 5, Mount the quick fixing wall plate.

Use the fixings provided so that the pipework passes through the plate as it should.

Step 6, Fit the olives and tighten the compression thread.

Be sure to fit the olives over the pipework and tighten the compression thread onto the wall plate with a spanner.

This will compress the olive and secure it to the pipework.

Step 7, Thread the trim ring.

Always thread the trim ring correctly onto the compression thread to cover up the wall plate fixings.

Step 8, Ensure that the rubber washer is inserted between the bar valve and the compression thread.

Step 9, Mount the bar valve using the swivel nuts.

Take care on this step in order to correctly tighten the bar valve itself to the unit without damaging its surroundings.

Step 10, Mark your distance and attach the wall bracket.

With the bar valve in place, use the riser rail to determine where the wall bracket needs to be drilled. Then mark the spot, drill your hole and attach your bracket.

If drilling into tiles, be sure to use masking tape when marking your spot, to avoid the drill wandering.

Step 11, Attach the riser rail.

Place the riser rail on to the bar valve and begin to secure until the riser rail pin is in line with the wall bracket. Then fully secure and tighten the grub screw on the wall bracket with the allen key provided in the box.

Step 12, Attach the shower head.

Place the showerhead on to the riser rail and tighten to secure.

Step 13, Secure the handset and hose.

Place the handset into the holder and secure the hose at the base of the bar valve.

Step 14, Do your final checks and clean up.

And there we go, 14 steps to correctly install our Joy Dual Function Push Button Shower.
